Use of CGM in Pediatrics – A Consensus Statement
Consensus Statement, Pediatric Diabetes (2012)
This consensus statement has been developed by a world-wide expert panel of pediatric endocrinologists and represents the clinical guidance of the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) from the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology, the Pediatric Endocrine Society and the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes. Use of real-time CGM provides the following benefits:
- Improved overnight control with hypoglycemia alarms
- Enhanced understanding of diabetes management teaching
- Improved daytime bolus dosing with trend arrows and hyper- and hypoglycemia alarms for real-time adjustements
- Improved management of acute illnesses
